1961 Volkswagen Beetle Pro Street. Well over $40,000.00 was spent to build this car! Less than 300 miles since completed. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION: Motor was built by Mark Hunt, 2110cc aluminum block, 69mm Scat crank (balanced with 8 pins), Mahle pistons and rods, Engle 110 cam, CB Performance 044 heads, lightweight flywheel, 1700lb. clutch disc, Scat straight cut gears, dual Weber 44 carburetors with tall velocity stacks and heavy hex bar linkage, full MSD ignition, 6AL control box, MSD distributor, coil and wires, powdered coated 12v alternator, heavy duty "freeway flyer" style swing arm transmission built by Jim Lutz, Poor Mans posi trac rear end, painted engine compartment "tin" including shroud and custom aluminum firewall. BODY: The owner wanted the very desirable oval rear window "look". To accomplish this he had his build team graft an entire 1956 VW roof section to the existing 1961 body. Four new fenders, OEM rear deck lid, billet aluminum door sills and running boards, new window molding, new rubber window and door trim and a Street Beat canvas sunroof, LED taillights and aluminum nerf bumpers. UNDER PAN: Original 1961 rust free pan (surface was cleaned and treated with POR-15 on both sides), front frame horn modified to accept a 1968 narrowed ball joint beam. FRONT SUSPENSION: Kingpin beam replaced with a 1968 ball joint conversion(powder coated cobalt blue),narrowed 4" lowereing adjusters added, front drum brakes replaced with Karman Ghia disc brakes, control arms and spindles powder coated, upgraded chrome tie rods and stabilizer added, new KYB gas shocks and stainless brake lines. REAR SUSPENSION: Rear drums upgraded to 1968 Beetle drums with all new components, new 1967 swing arm type 3 Sway-A-Way heavy duty axles with silver powder coated axle tubes, new KYB gas shocks and stainless brake lines. FRONT TRUNK: 1960 gas tank painted to match body, exposed metal painted silver with hammer finish paint, custom panels were fabricated to create a smooth design on flat surfaces, custom built wiring cover to match exterior paint and engine shroud design, chrome plated master cylinder, horn and hood prop, custom beaded carpet to match interior carpet design. INTERIOR: New Pro Car front and rear seats (not reupholstered), new silver (salt and pepper style) loop and hook carpet, custom built speaker panels covered with matching carpet, custom black plexi-glass rear seat kick panel covers, hand made black canvas door panels with imbedded wing design, custom steering wheel with billet aluminum column, painted headliner with all seams filled and raw edges smoothed, all dashboard panels were filled and smoothed (chrome trim remaining), ash tray welded shut, grab bar removed and holes filled, Alpine stereo with (4)Rockford Fosgate speakers, a Rockford base in a box, amp, and a short throw Scat shifter. Flat Four custom wheels with new Kuhmo tires. This is a beautiful VW that took hundreds of hours to build. These vintage Volkswagens are continuing to appreciate in value. A 1959 VW microbus is currently for sale in Hemming Motor News for $125,000.00! I will consider all LEGITIMATE offers and trades.
